Two honours for Bridge & Civil at the CCF NSW Earth Awards 2022.
The CCF Earth Awards are the most prestigious civil infrastructure awards, celebrating gold excellence in civil construction. Bridge & Civil took out two awards for their impactful and innovative bridge build projects.
Category 1: Up to $2M – Wallingat National Park Bridges
Category 4: $10M to $30M – Mount Pleasant Rail 2 Project: Flood Plain Viaduct and Wybong Road Bridge
The team deserved the win
The Bridge and Civil team delivered outstanding results on the Wallingat National Park Bridges and the Mount Pleasant Rail 2 Project.
The award-winning teams delivered key innovations and developed construction methodologies throughout the projects to ensure that the client and our workers were aware of the strict quality requirements and associated safety risks. Regular planning modules were briefed to the workforce for each critical section of the works, including:
- Substructure construction
- Precast element installation
- Bridge deck construction
- Walkway – and noise wall installations
A testament to Bridge & Civil’s success was leveraging their expertise in complex bridge and rail infrastructure works, to overcome project challenges.
A quick recovery from severe weather – that caused flood washing through the established site; damaging plant, equipment, and materials – ensured the team successfully delivered the first bridge within 20 days of the initial establishment.
In the Wallingat National Park, a consistent rainfall pattern within the forest ecosystem saw the project receive approximately 3000mm of rain in the 168-day construction program, proving very testing to the site teams on the ground. Using innovative plant and revised construction methods Bridge & Civil were successful in completing the full scope of 18 Bridge Replacements, completing a bridge every 9 days.
